Wireless Pet Fences are fantastic products. Plug them in, adjust the level, put on the collar and it’s all ready to go!

Because these units transmit without wires, they are subject to some limitations. (Have you ever wondered why those cell phone towers are so tall?)

Top ten reasons why you shouldn’t buy a Wireless Dog Fence.

  1. Your house has metal siding
  2. You have a metal roof
  3. The lot is wooded, or has dense tree cover
  4. Your home is a log home
  5. You need to contain more than two dogs
  6. A circular containment pattern is no good for you
  7. You want to contain more than 2½ acres (½ acre for some models)
  8. You need more than 180 ft containment distance from the base station (90 ft for some models)
  9. There is a major metal structure in the containment area
  10. You live in a Faraday Cage (unlikely, but we were one short of 10!)

A Wireless Pet Fence is still a great product. To find out more, visit the frequestly asked questions page at the MuttFence.com retail store.

Thanks for the article – you saved me some trouble. I was thinking of buying a Wireless fence for my dog, but my house has aluminum siding. I guess I’ll check out an in-ground fence instead.
